Hi Hawkeye,
Looks like this maybe a good book to purchase, it seem's to have lots of rave reviews etc and I've found that it is also available to view as an all inclusive subscription on The Genealogist so I might give that a try!
Thank you, GreyDoubt

Hi, I've bought a book, "Tracing Your Family History" by Anthony Adolph, which is a brilliant starting point, too. It helped to explain what records were available, with lots of examples, too.
I've seen Ancestral Trails, and it's a very large book, and goes very in-depth into each subject, which can be very helpful - yes, it's included in my subscription at the Genealogist, so I can find out more very easily! (I find it helpful on there that each chapter is linked, so you can click which chapter you want to view and it takes you straight there, so you don't have to go through every page!)
I find that Genealogy Supplies have a good selection (that's where I bought my Tracing your Family History book from).
